“Die can wait” takes the head of the box office, in front of “Venom 2”. “Eiffel”, third, held up well and crossed the million mark. Family films take full advantage of the school vacation period, like “The Wolf and the Lion”.
BOX-OFFICE FROM 20 TO 26 OCTOBER 2021: THE TOP 10
James Bond is back in the lead. The film is holding up well in the face of new developments, boosted by the November 1 bank holiday and the All Saints’ Day holidays. To die can wait, with more than 3 million admissions, is now the biggest success of 2021, ahead of Dune. Dune also passed the 3 million admissions mark this week but was left behind by Bond.
In 2nd place, we find Venom 2 which has also crossed a symbolic milestone, that of the million. Million also crossed for Eiffel, with Romain Duris and Emma Mackey.
Like Eiffel, films that can bring together a family audience take advantage of school holidays to fill up with spectators. The Wolf and the Lion (nearly 350,000 additional entries in the 3rd week), ditto for The Addams Family 2 (323,000 more entries), not to mention Ron Unblocks and Lost Illusions (over 200,000 additional entries for both).
Cinema attendance: what impact has the health crisis had?
The good maintenance of these films to the general public leaves little room for new releases this week: only Wes Anderson and his French Dispatch managed to climb into the Top 10 of the week. Despite the 100,000 entries exceeded for each of them, Lui by Guillaume Canet (120,111 entries), Barbaque by Fabrice Eboué (126,252) and La Fracture by Catherine Corsini (114,592) did not reach the Top 10.
Finally, it should be noted that the CNC has communicated the attendance figures covering the entire month of October 2021. Over one month, 14 million admissions were recorded. This is the second best monthly result of the year, behind July 2021 (14.31 million). Note that 8 films made more than 300,000 admissions (against 4 in September), with Mourir can wait in the lead.
