Bohemian Rhapsody: will there be a sequel? – Cinema News

Since the release of Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018, a sequel to this Queen biopic has been regularly mentioned. On the occasion of its broadcast on M6, let’s take a look at this astonishing project.

Global success, Bohemian Rhapsody has collected more than 911 million dollars worldwide and attracted 4.3 million spectators in France. No wonder then, that a few months after its release, rumors were already flooding the Web, quickly denied by producer Graham King.

However, the idea seems to have come a long way in the head of Brian May, the guitarist of the group Queen, also producer of the film. Yes in 2020, he had assured that a sequel did not seem necessary to him, a few months ago, he gave a different version during a live on Instagram. “We are looking at this topic. Yes we took a look at ideas“, he thus declared.

And to add: “It will be difficult to follow through on what no one could have predicted as such a great success. We worked with our heart and soul to make the first (…). But we think maybe it could happen, but it would take a really good script. It will take time to complete it.“

On the same wavelength

Nothing concrete, therefore, but the desire to look into the subject. A desire elsewhere shared by drummer Roger Taylor. Asked by the site cleveland.com on this possible sequel last October, he replied: “Well, for now, there isn’t. I think when we made the movie, we were like, ‘Okay, that went well. We will stop there.‘But there’s a huge appetite for some sort of sequel.“

And to continue on what could tell this second episode:

[Bohemian Rhapsody] only goes until the 1985 Live Aid concert. There is obviously a lot more to the story. But I haven’t seen a workable scenario yet. I think it would be stupid to rule out a sequel, but it’s going to have to be a real sequel, not just doing it for the money, you know?

If the two members of Queen therefore seem up for a sequel, it is clear that they will not accept any scenario. A new film is therefore not about to see the light of day!

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best films in history according to DashFUN users:
