Boba Fett’s Book on Disney +: What is the first episode of the new Star Wars spin-off worth? – News Series on TV

Disney launches its new Star Wars series! “The Book of Boba Fett”, the first episode of which is available on December 29 on Disney +, follows the adventures of the most famous bounty hunter in the saga.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT ?

Spin-off of The Mandalorian centers on the adventures of legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand. After venturing into the shallows of the galaxy, the two return to the middle of the Tatooine dunes to claim the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate …

The Book of Boba Fett, a series created by Jon Favreau.

WHO IS IT WITH?

Actor Temuera Morrison once again dons the warrior costume in this spin-off series. He was already the one playing Jango Fett in George Lucas’ prelogy. He gives the reply to Ming-Na Wen (Mulan, Agents of SHIELD) who lends his features to the mercenary Fennec Shand, his sidekick. The character has already appeared in The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch. Matt Berry (Toast of London), David Pasquesi (Veep) and Jennifer Beals, the star of Flashdance and The L Word, complete the distribution.

WELL WORTH A LOOK ?

It’s Boba Fett’s turn to shine. After an abrupt – not to say ridiculous – death in Return of the Jedi, the bounty hunter made his comeback in The Mandalorian series alongside Din Djarin. Through a post-credits scene in the Season 2 finale, the Warrior was traveling to Tatooine to get rid of Bib Fortuna and take control of the crime syndicate.

This very first chapter of Book by Boba Fett, entitled A stranger in hostile land, picks up where viewers left off. The episode is not rich in twists, but the first foundations of the plot are laid. Above all, a few questions finally find their answers, right from the introductory sequence. The first being: how did the helmeted killer survive at Sarlaac?

Swallowed raw in episode 6 of the saga, he was finally able to free himself from the creature’s body by making his way through its organs, in particular thanks to its flamethrower. Once free, the mercenary is made a slave to the Tuskens, these nomads who roam the deserts of Tatooine. To earn their respect, Boba Fett must assert his killer qualities. The character’s entire past is revealed through flashback footage, as the hunter is asleep in a healing chamber.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez – already at work for the series The Mandalorian -, this chapter begins wisely the series devoted to the hero. We hope for some combat sequences a little more ambitious than those of the first episode and more intrigues worthy of the name. Nevertheless, some beautiful shots come to ensure the spectacle, just like the excellent musical score signed Ludwig Göransson which blends perfectly with the universe. Fiction also has the good idea of reusing concept art as end credits.

It is still a little early to decide if The Book of Boba Fett will be as good as The Mandalorian. The potential is there, Temuera Morrison embodies a convincing hero and this spin-off is the opportunity to restore, finally, the crest of a character long enough put aside.

The Book of Boba Fett is available on Disney +.
