A COMPLEMENT TO FILMS
After the cult film Blade Runner, and its sequel Blade Runner 2049, here comes an animated series called Blade Runner: Black Lotus; taking place in 2032, the latter complements the plot of the two feature films, notably through the presence of the president of the Wallace Corporation Niander Wallace Jr., played in the cinema by Jared Leto (Wes Bentley inherits the role for the needs from the Serie).
Despite its postulate of complement to the two films, Blade Runner: Black Lotus was also built as an independent series, centered around a brand new heroine named Elle. The two feature films admittedly had female characters of great importance, but never yet a production. Blade runner had only put a woman at the forefront of the plot.

Adult Swim / Crunchyroll
Designed by the Japanese studio Sola Digital, the series was produced by two big names in Japanese animation: Shinji Aramaki (Space Corsair Albator) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex), a duo already used in particular on the animated series Ultraman. Also note the participation as a creative consultant of director Shin’ichirō Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop), who had previously directed the short film Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 in 2017.
broadcast from this Sunday, November 14 (two episodes at launch, then one episode per week), Blade Runner: Black Lotus is broadcast on two different media; Adult Swim will therefore offer the series in English with subtitles, while the Crunchyroll platform will broadcast it in Japanese with subtitles.
