Thunderclap in Hollywood! The interpreter of Black Widow has just lodged a complaint against Disney that she accuses of not having respected his contract by simultaneously releasing the Marvel film in theaters and on Disney + in the United States.
After working for Disney for years, Scarlett Johansson has just turned on her former employer. The star filed a lawsuit Tuesday, July 27 against the studio with big ears in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
According to her, the fact of having simultaneously released Black Widow in theaters and on Disney + represents a breach of her contract. The reason ? In the United States, part of the money actors make is often calculated based on their film’s box office results.
By offering the Marvel feature film on its streaming platform, Disney has therefore made Natasha Romanoff’s interpreter lose money. The complaint states that Scarlett Johansson’s representatives tried to negotiate with Marvel to review the actress’ contract ahead of the release, without success.
DISNEY STRIKES BACK
What the Mickey House contradicts in a press release:
This complaint is not at all founded. This lawsuit is particularly sad and distressing in its lack of consideration for the horrific and prolonged effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Disney has fully lived up to Ms. Johansson’s contract and, furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney + in Premier Access has dramatically improved its ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $ 20 million it has received to date.“, we can also read. The case will therefore be settled in court!
