The filming of “Black Panther 2” has been put on hiatus due to an injury to Letitia Wright, the princess of Wakanda. This interruption should not affect the release date set in one year, November 9, 2022.
The filming of Black Panther 2 forced to take a break! As revealed The Hollywood Reporter this weekend, the Marvel film had to stop production following an injury to actress Letitia Wright.
The injury took place in August during a stunt sequence filmed in Boston. After this event, Letitia Wright returned to London to recover. The resumption of filming is scheduled for early 2022.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this injury should not have an impact on the still distant release of the Black Panther sequel. Volume 2 should indeed be released in a year, precisely on November 9, 2022 in France.
For the record, Letitia Wright plays Shuri, the little sister of the late Chadwick Boseman’s character, in this sequel titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The plot is, for the moment, still kept secret. Succession will likely be at the heart of the story. The quest for T’Challa’s successor could be one of the stakes for this sequel, and his name would only be revealed in the final act.
Ryan Coogler is once again at the helm of this sequel, for which the cast will remain unchanged except of course for Chadwick Boseman, who the production has decided not to replace.
Filming began on June 29 and is due to resume in early 2022.
