Supermodel Bella Hadid is gearing up to make her acting debut with the third season of Hulu’s award-winning series, Ramy. The platform did not reveal details of Hadid’s character, but it is already known that she is joining the comedy series in a recurring role. Ramy follows an Egyptian-American man living in a politically divided New Jersey. She has to balance living in a religious community as she struggles with her beliefs.
Hadid was in her twenties when she was named “Model of the Year” and has been on the cover of various issues of Vogue around the world, including in Japan, France, China, Italy, and dozens of other issues. She still holds the record for appearing on most of the covers of Vogue’s September issue that same year. She has modeled for Dior, Chanel, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Versace, and many other brands. Hadid appeared as herself on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and appeared in the music video for The Weekend’s hit single “In The Night.”
If this acting journey holds up, then modeling actors may eventually follow in the footsteps of Cara Delevigne, Rebecca Romijn, Milla Jovovich, and many others before her. Ramy was created, written, and directed by two-time Emmy nominee Ramy Youssef. Youssef also starred and was one of the producers. The cast also includes Laith Nakli, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, Dave Merheje, Mohammed Amer, and Steve Way.
The series saw notable guest stars during its first two seasons, including Academy Award-winning Mahershala Ali, Jake Lacy, Mia Khalifa, and Michael Chernus. Hulu has yet to announce a release date for Season 3 of Ramy. ‘Ramy’ follows first-generation Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan (Youssef) and his family as they navigate spirituality in the politically divided New Jersey neighborhoods. Ramy brings a new perspective to the screen as he explores what it’s like to be stuck between a religious community that believes life is a moral test and a millennial generation that even doubts the existence of an afterlife.
