Pennyworth focuses on Batman’s famous butler, Alfred – long before he served Bruce Wayne. In the alternate version of the 1960s story, Alfred Pennyworth, played by Jack Bannon, is only in his late 20s and has adventures as an ex-Elite-Soldier and head of his own security company. He also meets a rich American businessman named Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge).
In Germany, “Pennyworth” can be purchased from the usual streaming providers. With StarzPlay, which can be booked as an additional channel on Amazon Prime Video, the DC series is even included in the subscription.

The series was actually made for the US pay TV channel Epix by Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, both of whom also developed “Gotham”. With the third season, however, the streaming service HBO Max took over “Pennyworth” and there one probably thinks that the audience needs to be made more aware that one is here in the universe of the comic book legend Batman. The now announced new title of the series is therefore:
Pennyworth: The Origin Of Batman’s Butler

Others hint that this title sounds like a desperate attempt to get people to notice the show who may have previously ignored “Pennyworth”:
A large part of the malice consists of ideas on how to continue turning this title gimmick. It’s reminiscent of another obscure DC title…
… alluded to other series …
… and there are suggestions to rename other DC projects as well:
And why aren’t other series titled in a similar way. Know the “Better Call Saul“Makers actually what they did wrong?
