Bardo on Netflix: Iñárritu back after “The Revenant”

Alejandro González Iñárritu is one of the greatest directors of our time. Here is the director again with a new film, bardo. The plot revolves around the character of Silverio. The latter, a documentary filmmaker of Mexican origin, has lived for years in Los Angeles. He is told one day that he has been nominated as the winner of a prestigious prize, which he is to receive in his native country. Silverio then leaves for Mexico, without really suspecting what awaits him there.. Indeed, the return to the fold does not go as he expected. As soon as he arrives, memories and anxieties for a long time come to undermine the psychological balance of the hero.

In this deeply human epic, treated with humor and tenderness, Silverio faces his history as that of his family and Mexico. The latter is caught in a whirlwind of emotions, both positive and negative… But where will this existential storm take him? ?

In an interview given to ThePlaylistthe filmmaker admits that he did not give the script to his actors before the start of filming. A surprising choice to say the least, which happens to be a first in his filmography. Asked why and how, he explains that, for this film in particular, he was looking to “release“the comedians of”streamlining process“, of the “classic construction” of a character. A bias that Iñárritu particularly applied to Daniel Giménez Cacho. The latter ended up reading the script, only once ! The Oscar-winning director is full of praise for his interpreter. He explains that he asked him for a deep investment, and the latter clearly lived up to his expectations.

When you have lights all around you, gear and thirty people staring at you, being honest, present and sensitive is incredibly difficult. And I believe that Daniel succeeded in doing so.
