Tomer Sisley is a thrill seeker and he proves it to us once again in episode 4 of this new season of “Balthazar”. The actor will perform a perilous stunt by jumping from a plane in full flight. A scene that is reminiscent of that of Jean-Paul Belmondo in “L’As des aces”.
Balthazar: Tomer Sisley’s aerobatics
In this fourth season of Balthazar, the famous medical examiner is accompanied by his brand new sidekick Camille Coste, played by the young Constance Labbé. Together, they will have to elucidate new crimes and be interested in new investigations. Raphaël Balthazar, played by Tomer Sisley, still doesn’t follow the rules and lets himself be guided by his instinct. This touch of madness often leads him into incredible situations… He will prove it to us once again in episode 4, titled Still life.
Tomer Sisley is an accomplished athlete and thrill seeker, whether it’s car racing, skydiving, or combat sports. Obviously, he wants to perform his own stunts despite the many risks that this entails for his health. In this new episode, the actor does not hesitate to jump from a biplane at an altitude of 1,500 meters. It was on the side of Saint-Jacques airport, in Rennes, on March 29, 2021, that the filming of this famous scene took place.
It should be noted that this crazy idea comes from Tomer Sisley. The one who shone in Wide Winch wanted to shiver again by offering a little pleasure. He, therefore, suggested the production of the detective series to make this spectacular sequence. Viewers will therefore have the chance to see the actor hoist himself out of the plane propelling himself into the void when it is completely turned over. He then goes into free fall before opening his parachute.
A dizzying waterfall!
This incredible scene is actually inspired by a famous movie. This is the feature film by Gérard Oury released in 1982, entitled The Ace of Aces. The character embodied by the famous Jean-Paul Belmondo stands up and jumps out of the plane mid-flight. A perilous sequence that made more than one spectator shiver! Tomer Sisley, a big fan of Bebel, therefore wanted to reproduce this scene. He proudly talks about it in the columns of Cable Sat TV :
We even redid, this season, one of the rare stunts that Belmondo did not do himself. It was in The Ace of Aces, where he’s in a biplane, a World War I-era aircraft, flipping over and his character plummeting out of it. We did it for real and it was awesome!
To do this, the production team used a legendary Boeing-Stearman, dating from 1940. Tomer Sisley was able to count on the skills of Hugues Duval, his pilot. The scene was shot twice, and the actor had some scares on the second take. The interpreter of Balthazar spoke about this during an interview for TV Star :
Especially during a sequence in an airplane, a biplane where I had to drop in free fall. We did the stunt twice and let’s say that the second time it was quite hot… But it’s fine, I’m alive!
Chills guaranteed! However, this isn’t the first time the daredevil actor has pulled off this stunt. In effect, Tomer Sisley had already performed this performance in 2017 on the show V6 broadcast on AB Moteurs.
One thing is certain, nothing stops the medical examiner from the TF1 series and this episode 4 of Balthazar announces a lot of twists! For the most impatient, the adventures of the police team are available in preview on the Salto platform.
