The 8th Balkan Panorama Film Festival continues with film screenings and events.
Free screenings and events continue at the 8th Balkan Panorama Film Festival, hosted by the Buca Municipality with the support of the TR Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
The opening gala of the festival, which is one of the important art events of İzmir, was held at the Buca Municipality Culture and Art Center. This year’s guests of honor of the festival, Şerif Sezer, one of the unforgettable actresses of Turkish cinema, and Meto Jovanovski, one of the most important actors of the Balkans, as well as Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, CHP İzmir Deputy Kani Beko, Buca District Governor Mahmut Nedim Tunçer, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay, Deputy Mayor of Buca Municipality Hatice Güral, delegations and festival heads from the guest countries Hungary and Serbia attended.
Addressing the moviegoers at the gala, Buca Deputy Mayor Hatice Güral emphasized that Buca undertakes the role of a mirror that reflects the Balkan culture in the best way, and said, “Buca is undoubtedly one of the first districts that come to mind when the Balkans is mentioned in İzmir. For this reason, we think that our festival has a very special chance in terms of its target audience. Combining their cultural richness, joy and culture of living together against all the pain, destruction, migration and wars with the texture of our district, the Balkan societies continue to make us proud with their representation on the screen.
Emphasizing that, as the municipality, they have adopted the motto of supporting art and artists, Güral said, “Art, which keeps the social memory alive and strengthens cultural values, is our lifeblood, as the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said. The films to be watched within the scope of the festival also provide the opportunity to see our common joys, the scars of our wounds and social motifs.”
Screenings, talks and activities within the scope of the festival continue until 01:00 at the Buca Municipality Culture and Art Center, İzmir Kültürpark and Tarık Akan Youth Center, free of charge. At the festival, five separate juries will give Yellow Umbrella awards in 11 branches, national and international.
