Mila Kunis plays a mother on the verge of a nervous breakdown in “Bad Moms”. If the actress agreed to play in this comedy, it is because she identified with her character and put enormous pressure on herself after the birth of her first child.
Bad Moms : the crack of unworthy mothers
Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) leads the perfect life. His lawn is very green, his fridge is well stocked, his teeth are very white, his minivan is well equipped. However, there is a problem in the life of Amy, or rather two, even three: her children are constantly on her back, her husband Mike (David Walton) does not hang around one of them and some of the other mothers that she frequents are proud to exempt their spouse from mental burden.
One evening, while the irreproachable Gwendolyn James (Christina Applegate) organizes a new meeting with other parents (or rather other mothers), Amy cracks. She can no longer stand this permanent devotion, the impossibility of devoting even a minute of her time to her well-being and the family responsibilities that she has no choice but to take on alone. After her freak out, she gets closer to Kiki (Kristen Bell) and Carla (Kathryn Hahn), who are also on the verge of breaking up.

The three friends finally decide to let in a bit of decadence in their perfectly ordered existence. Jada Pinkett Smith, Annie Mumolo, Clark Duke, Jay Hernandez and Wendell Pierce complete the cast of this comedy directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, screenwriters of very bad trip and D’Standard exchange. In 2016, Bad Moms knows a real success since it brings in nearly $184 million in worldwide revenue, for an estimated budget of $20 million.
Mila Kunis recognized herself in her character
When she shoots the feature film, Mila Kunis is the mother of a little girl named Wyatt, the fruit of her union with Ashton Kutcher. Anxiety and pressure what his character imposes himself in the film so familiar to himas she explains to TODAY in 2017, during the promotion of Bad Moms 2 :
I have a whole different appreciation for all that my mother does and has done and all that she feels for my brother and me. I don’t think I could have understood it before having my children (the actress gave birth to a boy named Dimitri at the end of 2016, editor’s note). I think “Bad Moms” and “Bad Moms 2” bring that to light, what we really go through for our children and the pressure we put on ourselves as mothers and as women.
The reason I did the first one is because these are things that I imposed on myself. I tried to be so perfect. I really went crazy with my first child. It allowed me to say to myself: “OK, you’re not a failure”.
The actress has also been able to see that many spectators recognized themselves in the feature film. During a convention organized by the production company STX Entertainment and quoted by USA Todaythe actress says:
People appreciate what the movie says so much. And not just women or mothers. Even the men come to see me and tell me: “I finally understand my mother and my wife so much better”. It spoke to them because it’s honest.
