What’s in store for us”Avatar 3″ the highly anticipated sequel to “The Way of the Water” which will be released in France in December 2024? James Cameron has given the first clues about the plot, and we should meet a whole new Na’vi people after the Metkayina!
The saga Avatar in very good shape
In 2009, director James Cameron created the event with his film Avatarstill in first place of the biggest hits of all time in the worldwide box office. In December 2022, its long-awaited sequel has finally hit theaters. The question everyone was asking was whether the public was still going to be there, thirteen years later. Especially since The Way of the Water must reach two billion dollars to be profitable. A figure that only five films have managed to reach.
But the director’s bet is on a very good path since the film has just risen this Thursday to the tenth place of the biggest hits of all time with $1.5 billion in revenue, in just three weeks of operation (and the biggest hit of 2022). A real feat which confirms that the saga is only in its infancy.
But then, what does James Cameron have in store for us next? The director, who has already practically finished shooting for Avatar 3indulged in a few confidences.
After water, fire?
In Avatar 2James Cameron introduced us to a new Na’vi people: the Metkayina, the water people, living on the reefs of Pandora. It was with them that Jake Sully and his family found refuge after being forced to leave the forest.

In the third film, whose release in France is scheduled for December 18, 2024, we will meet another Na’vi tribe, the people of the ashes (Ash People), as James Cameron revealed to 20 minutes also specifying that he wanted to show different facets inhabitants of Pandora:
The fire will be represented by the “Ash People”. I want to reveal the Nav’is from another angle because, for the moment, I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Navi’s examples. In Avatar 3, we will do the reverse. We will also explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters.
The Oscar-winning director also said the new films will be the best:
I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, of course, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 will be received, if it finds its audience.
A few weeks ago, James Cameron also revealed that he planned to send the Na’vi to Earth in Avatar 5. The saga has only just begun!
