Time has passed since Jake officially became a Na’vi in Avatar. He started a family with Neytiri and in addition to their three biological children, they adopted a little human. Find out in a first image.
Avatar 2: Return to Pandora imminent
Thirteen years after the release ofAvatar, director James Cameron will finally present his sequel, in December 2022. If it took so long to find planet pandorais that the latter wanted to finish writing all the suites (four in total) before starting filming. But we finally see the end of the tunnel! The shots of 2 and 3 are finished, after several months of mostly underwater filming.
Indeed, in this Avatar 2, Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) will be forced to leave their home. They will explore the other regions of Pandora, and more particularly the Oceans. A whole new people led by a certain Ronal (Kate Winslet), as well as a new fauna will be presented. For the underwater scenes, James Cameron used the aquatic capture performance for the first time. This practice led the actors, Kate Winslet in the lead, to perform impressive physical feats.
A new image reveals the adopted son of Jake and Neytiri
Several years have passed since Jake became a true Na’vi. He and Neytiri started a family, and had several children: Neteyam, Lo’ak and Tuktirey. But that’s not all. Indeed, they also adopted a little human, born in the military camp of Pandora, who was too young to return to Earth. His official name is Javier Socorro, but goes by the nickname Spider. The magazine Empire unveiled a very first image of the latter:
We notice that he has the Na’vi hair style, but that he also needs his mask to breathe on Pandora (and underwater).
He is at the center of a dilemma for Neytiri, as revealed by Jon Landau, the producer of the saga:
Jake made him come, but Neytiri always saw it as an apartment for the people who destroyed their house and killed their father. This theme is very present in the film.
Overall, family theme will be at the center ofAvatar 2, according to Jon Landau:
Jake comes from the world of humans, Neytiri from that of the Na’vi. They are a modern interracial couple, raising children who maybe don’t feel they belong totally to one world or the other.
Avatar 2 will be released in French theaters on December 14, 2022.
