After the release of “Army Of The Dead” by Zack Snyder and its prequel, “Army Of Thieves” by Matthias Schweighöfer, the zombies have not said their last word on Netflix. Feedback on upcoming projects.

Netflix

Netflix is not done with its zombies. After Army Of The Dead by Zack Snyder, the platform offered the prequel, Army Of Thieves, by and with Matthias Schweighöfer. With this latest film, many horror and hemoglobin lovers have underlined the absence of the living dead. It must be said that this project, centered on the character of Dieter, kept his promise: to offer a heist thriller in the worthy line of Ocean’s Eleven or even Gold is bar with Michael Caine. With the exception of a few brief appearances, the zombies were conspicuous by their absence, but not for long.

The animated series

Very soon, the saga will continue with an animated series, entitled Army Of The Dead: Lost Vegas, this time centered on the character of Scott, played by Dave Bautista. He will be surrounded by other members of the cast already present in the first part: Ella Purnell will replay her daughter, Kate Ward, while Ana de la Reguera, Omari Hardwick and Tig Notaro will also be in the game.

At the helm of this fiction, we will find the showrunner Jay Oliva, an important name in the world of animation and particularly known for having directed the film Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. The series, which will consist of 6 episodes, will look back on the first days of the contamination while digging into the personal stories of certain secondary characters. If no date has yet been officially announced, there is a rumor that Lost vegas could be released on Netflix in 2022.

A direct suite

After Vegas, the whole world. This is the postulate of the direct sequence ofArmy of the Dead, still directed by Zack Snyder. His title ? Planet Of The Dead. So little information circulates on this second installment which promises to be ambitious, the filmmaker has suggested that the character of Dieter – who sacrificed himself by locking himself in the safe at the end of the first film – could do his return.

“The real adventure would be to see what happened to him when the safe door closed on him. Was he killed by Zeus or not? What happened ? We don’t see him die on screen and he still had some time left, he explains. I wouldn’t tell you what happens in Army of the Dead 2 – aka Planet of the Dead – but let’s just say there’s a chance Dieter will survive. And there’s a chance that this very near-death moment will make him want to find an imprisoned Gwendoline.“

Without official release date, Planet Of The Dead is currently announced for 2023, still on Netflix.
