While “Armor Wars” was originally intended to be a series, the project turned into a film. A brand new rumor suggests a return of comedian Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man for the purposes of the feature film.
Armor Wars : from small to big screen
Amid countless Marvel Studios productions to come, there’s Armor Wars. Initially, it was a new Disney+ series centered on the character of James Rhodes, aka War Machine, embodied by Don Cheadle since Iron Man 2 in 2010. Adapted from the comics Iron Man of David Michelinie and Bob Laytonthe story of this new production will tell how James Rhodes must recover certain plans for armor and Tony Stark’s inventions which have been stolen.
Originally, Armor Wars should therefore be a series divided into six episodes centered on the new adventures of War Machine (which has never had a production to its name). We recently learned that the project had just been completely modified. In effect, Armor Wars will no longer be a Disney+ series but will be presented in the form of a feature film. The work written by Yassir Lester will therefore be reworked to suit a format of around two hours of images. At present, it is not yet known whether Armor Wars will be offered in cinemas or directly on Disney+.
The return of Tony Stark?
For War Machine to have its own adventure is that Marvel Studios has some big surprises in store for its fans. Indeed, the production of an adventure solely centered on James Rhodes does not really excite fans. Especially when the film is going to fit in the middle of much more enticing proposals like Blade, Thunderbolts or of course the next ones Avengers.
Since the announcement of this format change for Armor Wars, many rumors began to flourish on the net. According to The Direct, Armor Wars Could Actually Serve To Bring Tony Stark Back To The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCUs).
Indeed, several theories claim that the billionaire philanthropist will return under the form of an artificial intelligence. The powerful Iron Man would therefore be back in the form of an AI, in the manner of Jarvis. Which would allow Robert Downey Jr. to reprise his character which he left in 2019 afterAvengers :Endgame. If this theory were true, it would be a sufficient argument for Armor Wars benefits from a cinema release.
Tony Stark’s return to AI after his death is an element that has already been featured in the comics. The idea of adapting this idea in the MCU makes sense, and remains faithful to the paper adventures of the famous man in armor. However, it remains to be seen whether Robert Downey Jr. will agree to re-enlist. Anyway, for now these are only distant rumors, to be taken with enormous tweezers. But because Hugh Jackman will return as Loganeverything now seems possible…
