Here as elsewhere, professional life is sometimes made up of departures and promotions. Only a few weeks after the release of the classy Deathloop, director Dinga Bakaba is gaining ground, thanks to a strong start.
The information fell earlier in the week: after 17 years in the Lyon studio Arkane, director Romuald Capron announced his departure via his LinkedIn profile. Entered in 2005 as COO, Capron took the reins of Arkane in April 2019, and therefore left his position last month:
After more than 16 years of helping Arkane Studios Lyon grow, and become the world-class AAA studio that it is today, it was a very difficult decision to make. I felt the urge to try something new and to have a little more time for myself and my family. I am very proud of what we have accomplished with this incredible team. The successful launch of Deathloop is just one more proof that a very bright future awaits Arkane, which occupies a unique place in our industry.
It’s the power of Z ♫
Far from the generally violent productions of Lyon, Capron joins the start-up PowerZ, specializing in educational games, and which has managed to raise some seven million euros to develop this summer, according to our colleagues from Games Industry.
It is therefore the director of Deathloop and producer of the intestable Dishonored 2 Dinga Bakaba who has been promoted to director for the occasion., just weeks after the launch of one of the last games first offered on PS5, before Microsoft’s takeover of Bethesda took hold. As the LinkedIn profile of the lucky one, Bakaba will keep his cap as co-creative director for the time being alongside artistic director Sébastien Mitton.
This little professional musical chair number reminds us that if Arkane Austin’s Texas branch is currently working on the multiplayer FPS Redfall, expected in 2022 on PC and Xbox Series, the mystery hangs entirely over the project which is currently maturing in France. within the Lyon studio … Needless to say, we can’t wait to find out. Not you ?
