The comedian Jason Momoa, who will take over the role of Aquaman in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, returned to his various and many injuries that occurred during the filming of the film.
Aquaman : a success that makes the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) breathe
In 2018, James Wan abandons horror cinema a bit to focus on a DC blockbuster: Aquaman. After being introduced into Justice league, Aquaman is entitled to his own adventure. Thereby, Jason Momoa is back as Arthur Curry, while the rest of the cast consists in particular of Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Arthur’s brother, the aptly named Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus or even of Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison as Arthur Curry’s parents.
The film meets with some popular success and brings in more than $ 1.1 billion in box office revenue. A largely sufficient score which reassures the pundits of Warner Bros., especially after the critical failures of Suicide Squad and Justice league. The studio therefore decides to produce a second opus entitled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As James Wan is back behind the camera, comedian Jason Momoa has reprized the role of King Atlantis. Something more complicated than expected …
Jason Momoa, hurt all the time
Invited to talk about the shooting of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on the set of the Ellen DeGeneres show, Jason Momoa expanded on the many physical issues he has encountered. Indeed, the actor was injured a lot on the set of James Wan’s film, as he confirmed during his interview:
I’m getting old, that’s what’s happening. I had a problem with my eyes. Something entered my eyes and damaged them. I must have an operation. I have a hernia. I was taken off the ribs. I spend my time getting beaten up.
Despite his many injuries, Jason Momoa reassured his fans, by promising that the movie will be absolutely awesome. And then the actor seems to take all this with humor, making fun of his own age, not so advanced as that, since he is now 42 years old:
I get involved a lot. I love my job and sometimes I get a little too excited. Then we get old. I am an elderly superhero now.
The filming of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom started last June. The film is due in theaters on December 14, 2022. During the DC Fandome event, the Warner released some visuals of the feature film, which we leave you here:
