Ant : a moving story
Antit’s before all the story of a father-son relationship. That of young Theo and his father Laurent, a gruff and disillusioned man. This divorced dad has a certain fondness for the bottle and don’t believe in much anymore. Theo, football prodigy, would like more than anything to give him hope. Also, when a big club is about to recruit him, he thinks he sees the wheel turn! But unfortunately, Théo is not finally not chosen because of its small size. The idea of announcing this bad news and causing another disappointment to his father is unbearable to him. The pre-adolescent then decides to liebut it will quickly be overtaken by events.

For the little story, the title of the feature film is none other than Theo’s nickname – a reminder of its small size. If the child hates this little name, Laurent gives it a touching meaning that resonates with the subject of the film. Thus, his father asserts that the ant is the insect with the best sense of “collective” in times of trouble. In the casting of Julien Rappeneau’s film, we find François Damiens and Maleaume Paquin in the main roles. The plot is adapted from the novel by Mario Torrecillas, baptized DreamTeam. André Dussollier, Ludivine Sagnier and Sébastien Chassagne – to name but a few – are also in the game.
From the screen to the city
Under cover of Theo’s potential professional career, Ant questions the relationship he shares with his father. Guest at the time on the set of DailyFrançois Damiens explained that, ultimately, the child takes on the role of the parent in the feature film. The Belgian actor and his co-star, the young Maleaume Paquin, have moreover forged strong ties on set. Questioned by Pascale Deschamps, the latter confides in particular that, despite the “imposing” look of the one who plays his father on the screen, Damiens is actually a “big teddy bear”. The teenager adds that both of them laughed a lot on the set. For his part, the Belgian praises the qualities of Maleaume Paquin, the antithesis of the cliché of “the child star”. Indeed, he insists on the idea that the young boy plays the comedy “for good reasons”. Beautiful statements between the two actors, visibly very close!
