Season 1 of “Anna”, the new creation of Niccolò Ammaniti, ends this Thursday evening on Arte. Critically acclaimed, will this post-apocalyptic series be entitled to a season 2?
Arte is broadcasting tonight the last 3 episodes of Anna, a post-apocalyptic series adapted from the eponymous novel by Niccolo Ammaniti, who is also the mastermind behind the highly acclaimed Il Miracolo. We follow Anna (camped by Giulia Dragotto), a tenacious and courageous teenager, who goes in search of her kidnapped little brother.
Between burnt fields and mysterious woods, passing through the ruins of shopping centers and abandoned towns, her guide is the notebook that her mother bequeathed to her before her death. But as the days go by, she will realize that the rules of the past no longer apply. She will have to build new ones.
Will there be a season 2?
From the writing of Anna, Niccolo Ammaniti never thought of offering the series more than one season, since this series of episodes is directly inspired by the novel he wrote. In creating the series, he aimed to develop the characters he had built, and which he had not been able to develop satisfactorily in his book.
“As a writer we build different worlds from the one we live in”, He confided during a press point. “We set rules for these worlds, which contain a lot of stories. Anna’s was just one of many in the novel. “
“There were a lot of other characters who weren’t very developed. After I finished writing I kept thinking about them, but I couldn’t imagine a new novel with the same setting. and other characters. With the series, I was able to tell Anna while betraying her story to turn her into something else. “
Niccolò Ammaniti is therefore not ready to offer the series a season 2, especially since the writer-director already has many other stories in mind, which are, according to him, “even more incredible”.
