The movie will tell the true story of a serial killer who participated in a marriage program.

“Pitch Perfect”, “A Simple Favor”, “Up in the Air” star Anna Kendrick goes behind the camera for her next project. Kendrick’s directorial debut “Dating Game” will tell the strange story of Cheryl Bradshaw, a contestant on the popular 1970s matchmaking show. Kendrick will star in the film, playing Bradshaw.
Participating in the popular wedding program “The Dating Show” broadcast on American television in the 1970s, Bradshaw chose Rodney Alcala, who is the program’s favorite groom candidate for a bachelorette party, who attracts attention with his handsomeness and humorous demeanor. But Alcala was actually a psychopathic serial killer!
Cherly Bradshaw did not meet with Alcala after the show because she found it strange and creepy. Immediately after the show, crime professor Pat Brown claimed that Alcala had killed 3 women and that Bradsaw, who now rejected him, was in danger too. Bradshaw was taken into custody by the police. During the 70’s, Alcala, who committed 13 murders and was the subject of various documentaries and television productions, died last July while serving a 25-year prison sentence.
Anna Kendrick, who stated that she was fascinated the moment she read the script of the movie, explained, “While I was obviously excited to play the character of Cheryl, I felt so connected to the story, the tone and the themes of gender and intimacy that I jumped on it when I had the opportunity to direct the movie.”
