The titular heroine (Allison Janney) of “Lou” lives alone and withdrawn in a cabin in the woods. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with other people and avoids any contact as much as possible. That changes when one night her neighbor (Jurnee Smollett) shows up at her door, desperately begging for help. Her little daughter (Ridley Asha Bateman) has just been kidnapped by a man she doesn’t know (Logan Marshall-Green).
Without hesitation, Lou grabs some guns and runs out into the stormy darkness. The elderly woman moves so quickly, skillfully and confidently in the wilderness that her anxious companion can barely keep up. First, Lou goes to a nearby guy (Greyston Holt) who she suspects is involved in all sorts of dark activities.
She mercilessly beats out of him what she wants to hear. The young mother is shocked, but also grateful. She doesn’t know who this woman is, whom she only once saw roaring past her house in a shabby truck. Nor what could have made her what she is. However, she is certain that Lou is her best, if only hope, to be able to hug her little one again…
“Lou” starts on September 23, 2022 worldwide and exclusively on the streaming service Netflix.
