In “An Ordinary Spy”, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Greville Wynne, a sales representative whose actions helped prevent a third world war. An extraordinary but little-known story, and on which the actor returns.

Do you know Greville Wynne? No ? In the early 1960s, however, his actions made it possible to prevent the outbreak of a Third World War, when he was only a modest English trade representative. A man in the shadows but a key figure in the history of the planet, who is now entitled to his film, An Ordinary Spy, in which he is played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Ten years after La Taupe, the actor reconnects with the world of espionage on the big screen and comes back with us on this story as extraordinary as it is unknown. And this character he embodies and who is opposed to Sherlock or Alan Turing (The Imitation Game) in his way of performing incredible acts without having any particular predisposition at first.
