Revealed in “Lady Bird” by Greta Gerwig in 2017, Beanie Feldstein embodies her first major role in “Impeachment: American Crime Story” and confirms her talent. Light on a solar actress and who has not finished talking about her.

His name may not have entered everyone’s mind yet, but it is only a matter of time. Beanie Feldstein is one of Hollywood’s newest talents. Her sunny face, her hazel eyes and her apparent bonhomie had, until now, cataloged her in the roles of the “good friend”. Until the arrival of Ryan Murphy and American Crime Story. In the third season, titled Impeachment, she plays Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern known for her adulterous relationship with United States President Bill Clinton. This new challenge leads him to come to terms with a darker, icy and eminently political register. A glance at an actress to watch closely.

She grew up in an artistic environment

Born in 1993, the young woman is the sister of Jonah Hill, himself revealed in 2004 in I love Huckabees by David O. Russell and known, among others, for comedies Blistered, instructions for use and SuperGrave. Both come from an artistic family: their mother, Sharon Lyn Chalkin, is a costume designer, while their father, Richard Feldstein, is a renowned businessman, responsible in particular for Madonna’s career. Beanie Feldstein and Jonah Hill have a brother, Jordan Feldstein, who died in 2017 at the age of 40 following a pulmonary embolism. He was the agent of the Maroon 5 group.

His appearance noticed in Greta Gerwig

Beanie Feldstein made her film debut in 2016 in the sequel to Our Worst Neighbors alongside Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen – staunch friend of Jonah Hill. But that’s his role in Lady Bird, Greta Gerwig’s first film, which gives her a real exposure. She lends her features to Jules and gives the answer to Saoirse Ronan, nominated for the Oscars. Two years later, in 2019, she replays the “good friend” in Booksmart, another film noticed by critics and the public, directed by Olivia Wilde.

A dramatic turning point

When she receives a call from Ryan Murphy for the third season of American Crime Story, the actress is entrusted with a role poles apart from the characters she had played until now. She plays a young woman, named Monica Lewinsky, embarked in spite of herself in a national crisis after having entered into an adulterous relationship with Bill Clinton, president of the time.

In the series, the actress appears transformed, in a much darker register. Just watch the sixth episode to be convinced: Beanie Feldstein has not finished surprising. “This episode pushed me into my corner in a way I couldn’t anticipate, she lets the New York Times. It was the most exhausting and painful experience I have ever had.”

Broadway Star

Comfortable in front of the camera, Beanie Feldstein is also a regular on the boards. In 2017, she landed a role in the musical Hello, Dolly! alongside Bette Midler. In 2022, she will play Fanny Brice in Funny girl, character played by Barbra Streisand, her idol, at the cinema in 1968 under the direction of William Wyler. “My first celebrity crush was with Barbra [Streisand, NDLR], she explains to W Magazine. My mom made me a leopard coat and hat and had a whole photo shoot in my driveway.”

His crazy project with Richard Linklater (Boyhood)

In 2020, the actress signed on for the film adaptation of the musical Merrily We Roll Along directed by Richard Linklater, the director of Boyhood. Like the latter film – shot over a period of 12 years – Merrily We Roll Along offers a plot that spans several years – two decades. To offer a real experience, the project will be shot for twenty years and should not be released until 2040.
