It’s official, the PS6 is already being prepared internally. The builder in charge of developing it has just openly released the piece in a job offer
If the PS5 is still one of the most sought-after products in the world and the most difficult to obtain, Sony is already looking to the future. The Japanese firm has probably ordered the future chip that will power it from AMD. And it is the Californian manufacturer who announces it.
Sony is already preparing for the arrival of the PS6
The PS6 is already in Sony’s boxes. While the PS5 is still hard to find and stocks are scarce, the manufacturer is already looking ahead. And we are not talking about a possible PS5 Pro, but a new generation console. AMD has indeed published a job offer to find a SoC verification engineer to work on the chip that will power the PS6.
The description mentions that the lucky winner will be part of the team that developed the SoCs for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. He will have to collaborate in the creation of new generation chips. Frankly, AMD announces that it has started working on Ryzen chips that will power next-gen consoles, including the PS6. However, its development only seems to be at its genesis and it will take several years before the replacement for the PS5 arrives.
However, this is not the first time that the arrival of the PS6 has been teased. In October 2016, Sony filed trademarks ranging from PlayStation 6 to PS10 in Japan. A maneuver to which the Japanese firm is accustomed since it had done the same with the PS4 seven years before its release. We should nevertheless see the PS5 Pro land in the meantime, especially since the manufacturer would have already sent development kits in March.
