The official announcement for the series has arrived!

Amazon Prime Video has canceled “Night Sky,” the sci-fi series starring Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons. Amazon Studios and Legendary Television co-produced the first season of the series. The decision not to advance in another season came nearly six weeks after all eight episodes of the first season aired on the channel on May 20.
“Night Sky” follows Irene (Spacek) and Franklin (Simmons) who once stumble upon a portal to an alien planet. The couple’s rather quiet coexistence is turned upside down when new parties try to question them about the mysterious portal and the world beyond. Notably, Amazon Prime Video also highlighted the series’ sci-fi premise by launching a marketing strategy that involved beaming the first episode of “Night Sky” into space and avoiding satellites that would send the broadcast back to Earth.
Alongside Spacek and Simmons, the series starred Chai Hansen, Kiah McKirnan, Julieta Zylberberg, Rocío Hernández and Adam Bartley. “Night Sky” will be a co-production of Amazon Studios and Legendary Television. Holden Miller is the creator and co-executive of the series, while Daniel C. Connolly serves as executive producer and showrunner.
Jimmy Miller, Sam Hensen and Philip Martin also executive produce the series. Although the performances of Spacek and Simmons were praised in “Night Sky” reviews, the show was equally unpopular and the decision to cancel was inevitable. Of course, as in every series, there is a possibility that this project will continue on another channel or platform.
