The 63-year-old actor also seriously injured director Joel Souza, 48, who is currently in intensive care at Santa Fe hospital.
“Halyna Hutchins and Joel Souza were shot and wounded when Alec Baldwin unloaded a gun used in the filming of the movie Rust”, said the sheriff of Santa Fe in a statement relayed by AFP. According to a spokesperson for the sheriff quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, Hutchins succumbed to his injuries in hospital and Souza is in critical condition.
An investigation was immediately opened to “determine what type of projectile was fired and how”, adds the press release.
“Alec Baldwin was questioned by the police. He provided statements and answered certain questions. He volunteered and left the building after the interrogations were finished. No prosecution was initiated and no arrests were made. ‘was made”, the spokesperson for the sheriff of Santa Fe, Juan Rios, told AFP
