According to Deadline, director Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Netflix project will adapt Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Fall of House Usher.” Future success at Hill House and Bly Manor?
Mike Flanagan continues his little journey on Netflix and has just signed his 5th project with the platform if we are to believe Deadline. After Hill House and Bly Manor (then Midnight Mass and Midnight Club which are separate), the director specializing in horror will adapt yet another fantastic piece of news.
This time it will be The Fall of the Usher House, a work written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1839. It follows a narrator, witness to strange events at the house of his friend Roderick Usher. On the death of his twin sister, the latter is haunted and dark in madness …
This new creation takes up themes dear to Mike Flanagan, which are at the heart of his “Haunting of” saga: a haunted house, family stories, lonely souls … We can expect beautiful moments of horror but also of poetry.
Netflix has not yet unveiled the cast but we can hope for the return of its favorite actors – such as Henry Thomas, Victoria Pedretti or Kate Siegel. The 8 episodes will be co-directed by Flanagan and Michael Fimognari.
In the meantime, you can always (re) discover the excellent Midnight Sermons on Netflix:
