Robert Pattinson could join Bong Joon-ho’s next film. After “Parasite”, the filmmaker would like to adapt the novel “Mickey7”, which is scheduled for publication in early 2022.
Bong Joon-ho could direct Robert Pattinson
Two years ago Bong Joon-ho was crowned at the Oscars with Parasite. After winning the Palme d’Or 2019, the Korean film left with Best Picture Oscar, Best International Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. In France, he also won the César 2020 for Best Foreign Film. An impressive success which obviously did not make the filmmaker want to stop there. He is preparing his eighth feature film. And for the occasion, he could afford a big Hollywood name in the person of Robert Pattinson.
The actor is eagerly awaited in the skin of Bruce Wayne for The Batman (currently scheduled for March 2 in theaters). After this film, he could stay at Warner (already with tenet) by joining the next film of the director of Memories of Murder. Deadline announces that for the moment Robert Pattinson is only in talks. This allows in any case to learn that Bong Joon-ho will return to an American production. Let’s remember thatOkja (2017) was a co-production and that Snowpiercer (2013) was shot in English. He is also involved in the series adaptation by Parasite that HBO is preparing.
The story of Mickey7
Deadline gives details on this new next one, for now without official title. It will be an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s next book, Mickey7, which has not yet been published. However, we know the story of the novel. It will be about Mickey7, an employee sent on an expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. When a mission becomes too dangerous, it is to him that we turn. Because if he dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. Mickey7 is therefore the seventh version and he will finally understand the terms of his contract and why he got this job.
With this intriguing SF story, Bong Joon-ho at the helm and Robert Pattinson headlining, we’d be ready to sign right away. It remains to be hoped that all this will materialize quickly and without a hitch.
