After the triumph of Bac Nord, director Cédric Jimenez has his next project! The filmmaker will bring to the screen the story of Ingrid Betancourt and her kidnapping in Colombia.

Since the success of Bac Nord (2.2 million admissions and 7 nominations for the César 2022), Cédric Jimenez is awash in projects. He has just shot November, a dive into the heart of Anti-Terrorism during the 5 days of tracking that followed the attacks of November 13, 2015.

This thriller starring Jean Dujardin and Anaïs Demoustier will be released on October 5. Currently in full editing, Cédric Jimenez has already announced his next project at the microphone of variety.

It will be a story based again on a true story: the kidnapping of Ingrid Betancourt by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

This Franco-Colombian anti-corruption senator running for the presidency was kidnapped in 2002 with her campaign manager Clara Rojas. It was released six years later, on July 2, 2008. The feature film will be titled Verde.

“I’ve had this project in mind for years. I’ve read and watched everything I could find on this story”specified the director, citing Apocalypse Now and Midnight Express as his major influences for the screenplay, co-written with Olivier Demangel.

“Being captive in a jungle seems like an oxymoron because it’s so vast, but it’s also a harsh environment where disease runs rampant, you’re cut off from the rest of the world, and your relationship with nature is heightened”added Cédric Jimenez, who should start filming in the fall in South America.

The work will be an international co-production with an estimated budget of twenty million dollars. We do not yet know the release date or who will lend her features to Ingrid Betancourt.
