In addition to his film on the attacks of November 13, 2015, Cédric Jimenez intends to tackle another true story. The director of the recent “BAC Nord” has just admitted that he was preparing a project which will return to the detention of Ingrid Betancourt during the 2000s.
Cédric Jimenez is interested in the detention of Ingrid Betancourt
Since its presentation at Cannes last year, BAC North provoked some passionate comments in the French landscape. Whatever one thinks of the political scope of the film, one recognizes a certain talent in its director, Cédric Jimenez. He is likely to be talked about a lot more with his next hot topic project titled November. A reference title to the attacks of November 13, 2015. He has surrounded himself for the occasion with a solid cast (Jean Dujardin, Sandrine Kiberlain, Jérémie Renier, Anaïs Demoustier, Marine Vacth) and the release will take place in our theaters on next october 5.
The director does not intend to be unemployed and already knows what his next film will be. He just announced to variety that he was now working on a project with the title Green and recounting the captivity of Ingrid Betancourt and Clara Rojas. The two women, along with other hostages, were kidnapped by the FARC in 2002. It was only years later that they were able to regain their freedom. As a reminder, the first was involved in the race for the presidential elections in Colombia and the second was its campaign manager.
Filming kicks off later this year
The American media article reports that the budget will turn around 20 million dollars and that we should follow the whole captivity of the two women. On paper, the true story contains enough strong elements to give birth to a gripping film. Cédric Jimenez has rightly proven that he is good at filming tension and action.
His storyline will begin with the kidnapping and should dwell at length on the years in detention, while depicting the Colombia of the time, with the increased presence of rebel troops. The director does not hesitate to quote Apocalypse Now and Midnight Express as sources of inspiration, thus setting the bar quite high.
For the moment, nothing has been announced on the casting. The identity of the main actress will already condition a lot of things. No release date is mentioned, the start of shooting is hoped for next fall.
