The cast begins to come together in the “Blade” reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to the latest news, Aaron Pierre has joined the cast of the upcoming movie starring Mahershala Ali.
No details are currently available about Pierre’s character, but reports suggest that Marvel Studios went through a very deliberate and thorough casting process to fill the role.
Pierre is the third official member of the “Blade” cast. In November, Delroy Lindo (“The Harder They Fall”, “Da 5 Bloods”) officially joined the Marvel reboot in a mysterious role. The role of Ali’s eponymous vampire hunter was announced when the project was officially unveiled by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.
Pierre, 27, made a big splash last year with a recurring role in Barry Jenkins’ critically acclaimed mini-series “The Underground Railroad” and playing rapper Mid-Sized Sedan in M. Night Shyamalan’s horror thriller “Old.” exited. Additionally, Pierre is already in a relationship with Disney, as the actor took on the voice-over role of Mufasa in the studio’s “Lion King” prequel, which will be directed by Jenkins.
Bassam Tariq will direct “Blade,” with Stacy Osei-Kuffor as a writer. The film will be the first feature film adaptation of the Marvel character since Wesley Snipes starred in a trilogy of action movies in the 2000s. While no official release date has been set for the MCU movie, viewers got their first taste of the movie in the post-credits scene of “Eternals,” featuring Ali with an audio cameo.
