In “Violation,” Miriam (Madeleine Sims-Fewer) and her husband Caleb’s (Obi Abili) marriage is on the brink of failure. As a more or less last-ditch effort to save her, the couple goes on a trip. The destination is an idyllic cottage on a lake where Miriam’s sister Greta (Anna Maguire) and her husband Dylan (Jesse LaVercombe) are waiting for them to have a barbecue, swim and relax together.
However, old conflicts quickly flare up between the siblings, who have become more and more estranged over the years. Caleb’s usual passive behavior is of no help to Miriam in this situation. The only person she can talk to about her feelings and a long-kept personal secret seems to be Dylan. But he abuses her trust and rapes her. As a result, the already mentally challenged woman blows all the fuses and swears merciless revenge…

After various short films, some of which were awarded prizes, “Violation” is the Canadian creative duo’s first full-length directing, producing and screenwriting collaboration Madeleine Sims Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli. In interviews, the two films such as “Revenge”, “Irreversible” and Sam Peckinpah’s “Who Sows Violence” were cited as inspiration for her work.
Sims-Fewer, who also plays the leading role here, has already appeared in Matt Johnson’s “Operation Avalanche”. Other important parts are with Anna Maguire (“Saving Private Ryan”, “The Hummingbird Project”), Jesse LaVercombe (“Murdoch Mysteries”), Obi Abili (“The Survivalist”) and Jasmin Geljo from “Das Ende – Assault On Precinct 13” and “Land Of The Dead”.
