The global manager of Netflix’s television division raised the possibility that a second season of “Squid Game” could see the light of day. But fans of the series will have to be patient …
Officially, Squid Game season 2 is not yet in the works, but does the series’ phenomenal success really leave the choice to its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk? Exhausted by the shooting (he wrote and directed the nine episodes of the series), the latter had confided that he had nothing planned for a second season, and that he would only consider it on condition of delegating part of the work for other writers and directors.
In an interview with our colleagues from Vulture, Bela Bajaria, the global manager of Netflix’s television division, has revealed that discussions have been held with the filmmaker for the start of a second season. But the latter however insisted that the series would not return for a while, mainly because of schedule conflicts.
Hwang Dong-hyuk is preparing a film and working on other projects. But we are trying to find the right way to fit into his schedule.
Things therefore seem fairly clear: while respecting the director’s commitments, Netflix intends to sign an agreement with the director as soon as possible for the start of a second season as soon as possible. An announcement that would delight millions of fans of the series around the world, Squid Game still occupying the first place in the ranking of consultations in several dozen countries today!
The entire series Squid Game can be found now exclusively on Netflix.
