eFootball (ex-PES) decides to abandon the demo status with a release date of its version 1.0. Konami recognizes its mistakes and lists the improvements for a game finally finished.

The beginnings of eFootball, formerly Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), were very complicated. The transition to free-to-play was painful with a redesign released in the form of a demo, which was aptly named since the game was anything but complete. The lack of finishing with scary visuals (modeling of footballers, animations, etc.) and lame gameplay earned it scathing reviews. In summary: a catastrophic launch.

Konami was then betting on a 1.0 version which, after long months of postponements, has its release date.

The real release date

Here we are eFootball 2022 version 1.0 will be available on April 14, 2022, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).

Konami does not discuss the failure of the title but attests that after six months on the market, eFootball should resume colors with version 1.0 and offer a decent level of quality.

To offer football fans around the world the opportunity to enjoy a new game of football with an unprecedented level of realism. It was with this idea in mind that we initiated a two-year development period for eFootball 2022. Nevertheless, we were so focused on releasing the game on time that we lost sight of the most important thing: the quality. Naturally, we were the butt of criticism from our legitimately disappointed fans.

Six months have passed since the initial launch last September, but we believe we have finally reached a level of quality that we are happy with, hence our decision to release v1.0.0.
More features will be added in future updates, about which we will inform you in the future. In the meantime, we hope you will like this “New Soccer Game”!

On its official website, the Japanese publisher lists the changes to version 1.0. We first note the “control changes in defense” with the implementation of the option “Ask for a laundry”. Passes are also improved with the command “Go Power”. The multiplayer should also be more stable, and the “Game Plan” more provided with additional features.

eFootball 2022 is available for free on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Steam).
