To forget its important postponement, Forspoken unveils new sequences on PS5. On one side is the State of Play trailer, and on the other is a video on the fights and spells of the game.
Forspoken will not be released until the fall on PS5 and PC, but Square Enix has been keen to promote its new franchise. We have to start the trailer for the latest State of Play then captured snippets by our colleagues at Game Informer.
The meeting of two worlds
The new trailer “Meeting of two worlds”, visible above, materializes all the challenges of Forspoken. Frey Holland is ripped from the streets of New York and catapulted into the more hostile world of Athia.
The strange and cruel continent of Athia pushes Frey to exceed his limits. She will need to use her parkour and magical combat skills to survive against the fearsome twisted creatures that lurk in the Mist.
The trailer shows us a little more of the magical skills of the young New Yorker, including two powers. The first is “Stormy Stalker” which creates electrical energy during battles and the second, “Surfing”, allows Frey to contain water barriers.
As for mist, it is the infection that alters all lives, both human and animal. We also have a better overview of some enemies like the Gigas which makes everything tremble, the flying Apsaravis, or the ferocious dragon that the heroine faces.
Forspoken: magic, the central element
We notice since the first presentation, that magic is at the heart of the title of Square Enix. And the statement of the developers on the subject is crystal clear:
Magic is really central in Forspoken. We have therefore made sure to provide players with a wide range of spells.
The Game Informer video is busy explaining all this to us. Frey has several types of magic with standard spells to shoot, lacerate or electrify her enemies in melee. But there are also support powers, like the one that summons multiple flaming swords that protect you and attack your opponents to give you time to recharge your magic. And that’s without counting on other skills to deal with area damage.
At the bottom right of the screen, you have a triangle that symbolizes the three types of magic available. On the left are the support spells, on the right are the basic magic attacks, and on the spike, the most devastating power.
