Glass and Unbreakable have just joined director M. Night Shyamalan’s other works already present on Disney+. Overview of the films of the master of final twists that leave you speechless, to see or see again on the platform!

UNBREAKABLE

In the early 2000s, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan achieved recognition thanks to the success of his third feature film Sixth Sense. Following this successful collaboration, he offered Bruce Willis the main role of the film Unbreakable, the origin story of a superhero who breaks the codes of the genre with his finesse and his concern for realism.

This breathtaking thriller tells the story of David Dunn, an ordinary security worker, the only survivor of a terrible train disaster. While wondering about the reasons for his survival, he meets the mysterious Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), a man suffering from the famous brittle bone disease, fascinated by superheroes.

First part of a trilogy, which will continue 17 years later with the film Split, Unbreakable is available now on Disney+.

GLASS

In 2019, M. Night Shyamalan beautifully concludes his triptych initiated 19 years earlier with a reunion of David Dunn, Elijah Price, as well as Kevin Wendell Crumb, the famous character with 24 personalities, in the thriller Glass.

Respectively embodied by Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy in Unbreakable and Split, these three men find themselves interned in the same psychiatric hospital under the supervision of Doctor Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson). The latter tries to convince them that their superhuman abilities are only an illusion.

The final installment in the superhero trilogy and one of the director’s most beloved films by viewers, Glass offers a captivating conclusion not to be missed.

SIGNS

Building on the successes of Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, M. Night Shyamalan unveiled the science fiction film Signs in 2002, born of his fascination with the enigmatic crop circles (also known by the Anglo-Saxon name “crop circles”). In his feature film, he tries to give them meaning through the story of the bereaved family of Graham Hess, played by Mel Gibson, who sees crop circles appear in the fields surrounding their farm.

Could extraterrestrials be the cause of these strange phenomena, reproduced here without digital effect by the film crew? The answer in Signs, which mixes suspense, mysticism, disturbing atmosphere and a brilliant cast with Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin, Abigail Breslin and Cherry Jones.

THE VILLAGE

Two years later, M. Night Shyamalan once again calls on Joaquin Phoenix, this time to join The Village, the story of an isolated community that lives in fear of terrifying and mysterious creatures that inhabit the surrounding woods. the village.

Still unknown to the public at the time, Bryce Dallas Howard plays Ivy, a young blind woman who ventures into the forest to get medicine. On the poster of this harrowing film, we also find Adrien Brody, William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver, Brendan Gleeson and Cherry Jones for his second collaboration with the director.

A slow and oppressive rhythm, a remarkable staging and a final twist that marked the spirits… Do you dare to discover Le Village?

PHENOMENA

In 2008, M. Night Shyamalan tried his hand at the disaster film genre with Phenomena. Less well received than his previous films, this feature film worn by Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel tells the story of a strange phenomenon that suddenly drives many people to suicide. Science teacher, Elliot Moore tries to understand the origin of this scourge…

This intense film marks the sixth collaboration between the American filmmaker and composer James Newton Howard, to whom we owe the music for Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village and The Water Maiden. Unlike his other feature films, M. Night Shyamalan does not physically appear in Phenomena, but lends his voice to Alma’s colleague who repeatedly calls out to him.

(Re)discover director M. Night Shyamalan’s signature style in these five films available on Disney+.
