Because time passes, and passes, and passes, the great sagas of video games are bottled up. In a few days, Final Fantasy will celebrate the 34th anniversary of the release of the first episode, and launch the invitations.
The most advanced among you have not forgotten: it was on December 17, 1987 that Final Fantasy first of the name was released on Famicom, and helped lay the foundations for a series that wrote some of the most beautiful pages of the J-RPG. And because we are not 34 years old every day, Square Enix announces the holding of a live event, largely devoted to Stranger of Paradise, “the origin story” of Final Fantasy.
Linking the action-RPG unveiled in the chaos of E3 2021 and the original opus therefore made sense for Square Enix, which announces the holding of a live anniversary this Saturday, December 18, at 11 am with us players French. During this presentation, we will be able to discover new phases of gameplay, and undoubtedly learn a little more about this still very enigmatic title, which for the time being retains all its mystery, as co-producer Tetsuya Nomura liked to recall:
This new story uses the first Final Fantasy as a motif, rather than being directly connected to it. If you are familiar with the game world, you should be able to pick up some clues in the design of Jack and his companions. Their clothes are nothing more than a clue of their provenance. The names of the protagonists make sense, but that would spoil the story. Jack, Ash and Jed all have a common meaning.
Which class (es)
But while waiting to find out what Square Enix has in store for us, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin now specifies its class system. Even if it means getting a little ahead of the series’ chronology (the classes will only appear with Final Fantasy III), the Warriors of Light will be able to alternate between Gladiator, Mage and Pugilist:
The classes are divided into two types: basic classes; like the gladiator and the mage; and the higher classes which you will unlock by leveling up in various base classes. If you keep leveling up in the upper classes, maybe even more advanced classes will be waiting for you, who knows?
New skills and classes are available in the class tree. Defeating enemies and leveling up will earn you class points, which you can use to learn new skills and unlock new classes.
While waiting for the broadcast of this weekend, The Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin prequel is due out March 18, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
