The series “A French affair” around the affair of little Grégory will arrive very soon on TF1. Even before its release, the fiction already ulcerates the parents of the child, very angry at not having been warned of the project.
A French affair : the Grégory affair at the heart of a fiction
Only two years after the documentary series Gregory released on Netflix, the affair around the little boy murdered in 1984 at the age of 4, is the subject of a fiction for TF1. In fact, next September will arrive on the small screen the series A French affair made of 6 episodes of 52 minutess. This brand new fiction returns to the Grégory affair which has shaken the country for more than 35 years with all its many twists and turns.
The plot is based on the drama that turned the lives of the parents of the little boy upside down. The Villemin couple Christine and Jean-Marie are performed by Blandine Bellavoir and Guillaume Gouix. They will be surrounded by Gérard Jugnot, Guillaume de Tonquédec, Laurent Stocker, Michaël Youn, Laurence Arné, and Gilbert Melki. A well-supplied cast, with a budget of 8 million euros, A French affair is a long-awaited fiction. One thing is certain, the project has everything it takes to attract crowds, however the main people concerned are very upbeat against production.
The Villemin were not aware
The series project was not communicated to Christine and Jean-Marie Villemin. It is via a website in 2020 that the spouses discovered the preparation of this fiction drawn from their painful personal history. As if that wasn’t enough, they could not see the result before the broadcast. The lawyer of the couple Marie-Christine Chastant-Morand was outraged by these ways:
Having actors play Jean-Marie and Christine without contacting us is not admissible.
For his part, the director Christophe Lamotte admitted not having wanted to meet the parents of the child. So it is not custodian of their word, and can retain a form of independence. We must therefore expect completely invented passages and dialogues in order to restore the atmosphere of the valley. However, the conflict is not quite settled. Marie-Christine Chastant-Morant, the couple’s lawyer, warned: “It is not impossible that we react”. Grégory’s parents will they let the big budget series come out on the small screen? To be continued …
