The Best Screenplay award went to Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up”.
The winners of the Writers Guild Awards have been announced. The Best Original Screenplay award went to “Don’t Look Up”. The script of the Netflix movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep was written by Adam McKay.
Despite being nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, “Don’t Look Up”, which was not one of the favorite films of the award season, was also featured in other films competing in the same category, such as “The French Dispatch”, “Being the Ricardos”, “King Richard” and “Licorice Pizza”. It was a surprise that it won the best screenplay award.
The Best Adapted Screenplay Award went to “CODA”. Competing for the Best Picture Oscar and creating a great controversy by being selected as the Best Film at the Producers Union Awards given the previous day, “CODA” has thus won another important award.
