Juliette Binoche plays Sally the trucker in Paradise Highway. Due to tight finances, she actually already has enough stress. But now there are also worries about her brother Dennis (Frank Grillo). Because he is currently in prison and is being threatened by a gang that is terrorizing the inmates there.
So that they leave Dennis alone, Sally now has to drive goods from A to B for the criminals on a regular basis. She doesn’t want to know exactly what she’s transporting. But this time it’s a girl. Sally must smuggle Leila (Hala Finley) across the state line, where she is to be met by gang accomplices.
The action gets even more outrageous when Sally realizes that her FBI agent Gerick (Morgan Freeman) and his young colleague Sterling (Cameron Monaghan) are hot on their heels. Both are determined to stop the criminals’ trafficking in human beings. Which Sally thinks is absolutely right. But what will become of Dennis if she doesn’t deliver the little one as agreed?

Anna Gutto was in charge of directing and writing the script. “Paradise Highway” is her first feature film after various short films and plays. In addition, the Norwegian had already directed several episodes of the Netflix dramedy series “Home For Christmas” in 2019.
For a debut film, the cast is truly remarkable. Gutto was able to secure the services of Oscar winners Juliette Binoche (“The English Patient”) and Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”). As a third big name, she cast Frank Grillo, the Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones from the Marvel blockbusters “Captain America 1 + 2” and “Avengers 4: Endgame”.
The German star Veronica Ferres (“Das Superweib”) is also on the cast list in a supporting role. Also present: Christiane Seidel from “The Queen’s Gambit”, the young Hala Finley from the sitcom “Man With A Plan” and Cameron Monaghan from “Shameless“.
